about

A missed opportunity regretfully at St Martins school of Art, but fast forward many many years and I have returned to my one great passion.

Most of my work is mixed media. Working with a combination of acrylics, pastels, inks and watercolour allows freedom and an element of surprise. Subject matter can be inspired by travels: either close to home or further afield, urban, seascape , landscape or a still life. The basic preparation for a painting is in itself a piece of art and will underpin the finished painting, plus sketches to create a composition is a good starting point. I believe it is so important to never stop learning and push yourself outside of your comfort zone, the experience may feel somewhat daunting but the end result often brings a sense of achievement. When not beavering away in my studio I paint en plein air. Being constricted to a small canvas requires decisions what to leave in and what to leave out, battling with the ever changing weather, working quickly to capture the essence of a scene, even selecting the scene can be a challenge. En Plein air and studio work provide the perfect juxtaposition to develop my work further and let the magic happen!

Always painting with love
